Friends of the Verde River works every day to keep the Verde River healthy and flowing. We bring people together to care for water, land, wildlife, and the communities that depend on the river. Our team is small, dedicated, and deeply connected to the Verde Valley. We are now hiring for several positions and invite people who care about rivers, community, and the outdoors to apply.
Current Job Openings
These positions support our mission in different ways, from fieldwork to public outreach. All current openings are AmeriCorps positions based in Cottonwood, Arizona, with a hybrid work environment. Each offers valuable hands-on experience.
Analyst / Public Outreach Assistant
This position is a mix of research, planning, and talking with the public. It supports our Executive Director and Board by helping gather information and community input about water and river issues.
The Analyst / Public Outreach Assistant helps with data collection, outreach, and special projects. This role is a good fit for someone who is organized, enjoys learning, and is comfortable working with people. Travel within the Verde Watershed is required, and a technical or research background is helpful.
Restoration Assistant
This position focuses on hands-on work outdoors. It supports river and land restoration projects throughout the Verde River watershed.
The Restoration Assistant helps remove invasive plants, improve wildlife habitat, monitor water conditions, and assist with volunteer workdays. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work outside and wants to see direct results from their efforts.
River Friendly Living Program Assistant
This position supports our River Friendly Living program, which helps residents and businesses use water wisely and protect the river.
The River Friendly Living Program Assistant helps with outreach, education, and community events. This role includes creating materials, talking with community members, and supporting program activities. Strong communication skills and comfort with basic computer tools are helpful.
