Maya Rappaport joins Friends after working as a riparian bird biologist in Maine, New Hampshire, Utah, Colorado, and Montana. Maya studied ecology and wildlife biology as an undergraduate at College of the Atlantic in Maine. Maya is currently a master’s student at NAU, studying science communication and sustainable communities. In addition to their work in ecology, Maya is a classical musician and visual artist. In January 2019, they founded the Flagstaff Kestrel Project, which seeks to understand the intersections between conservation and community organizing.
