2022 Funded Projects
In 2022, the River Friendly Living Grants supported four impactful projects aimed at protecting the Verde River and promoting sustainable practices in the region.
- Verde Earth Technologies (VET) received funding to purchase new chainsaws for invasive species treatment along the Verde River and its tributaries, helping maintain the ecological health of these critical waterways.
- The Verde River Institute was awarded a grant to support the Verde River Rangers. This community education team engages visitors on sustainable recreation, conducts water quality sampling, and organizes trash cleanups along the river.
- The Verde Valley Cyclist Coalition received funding for the next phase of the Blowout Wash Trail System in Cottonwood, Arizona. This project enhances outdoor recreation opportunities in the Verde Valley while promoting a healthy relationship between trails and the natural environment.
- The Verde Village Property Owners Association was funded for invasive species removal within the Verde River Nature Preserve, protecting native plants and wildlife from further habitat disruption.
These projects showcase a collaborative effort to preserve the Verde River and ensure the continued health of its ecosystem and communities.
