2023 Funded Projects

In 2023, the River Friendly Living Grants funded nine innovative projects aimed at water conservation and community engagement in the Verde Valley:

 

  1. Five home-based rain harvesting systems were installed to help homeowners capture and reuse rainwater, reducing reliance on groundwater.

 

  1. Camp Verde Library received funding for a large-scale rain harvesting system, setting an example for sustainable water practices in public spaces.

 

  1. Smelter Town Brewery was awarded a grant to install a water meter, helping track water usage in beer production and encouraging water efficiency in local businesses.

 

  1. The Verde River Institute was funded to launch a community education and monitoring program in Clarkdale. The initiative aims to activate river stewards and boost community involvement in protecting the Verde River.

 

  1. The Verde Valley Trail Fund received support for the construction of Phase 3 of the Blowout Wash Trail System in Cottonwood, promoting outdoor recreation while respecting the natural environment.
