2023 Funded Projects
In 2023, the River Friendly Living Grants funded nine innovative projects aimed at water conservation and community engagement in the Verde Valley:
- Five home-based rain harvesting systems were installed to help homeowners capture and reuse rainwater, reducing reliance on groundwater.
- Camp Verde Library received funding for a large-scale rain harvesting system, setting an example for sustainable water practices in public spaces.
- Smelter Town Brewery was awarded a grant to install a water meter, helping track water usage in beer production and encouraging water efficiency in local businesses.
- The Verde River Institute was funded to launch a community education and monitoring program in Clarkdale. The initiative aims to activate river stewards and boost community involvement in protecting the Verde River.
- The Verde Valley Trail Fund received support for the construction of Phase 3 of the Blowout Wash Trail System in Cottonwood, promoting outdoor recreation while respecting the natural environment.
