Friends of the Verde River is thrilled to receive a $10,000 grant from the River Network in support of our projects along the Wild and Scenic section of the Verde. This grant will help us host volunteer river clean-up events that will include trash pickups, community science, and habitat restoration projects like planting willow trees and removing invasive species that harm the river. Thank you to River Network for helping us maintain a healthy, flowing river! We’re looking forward to engaging young adults and volunteers in important projects along the Wild and Scenic section of the Verde.

River Network says, “For the fourth year, River Network is excited to work with the USDA Forest Service (Forest Service)  to provide local organizations with funding for their work to steward our many, diverse Wild and Scenic Rivers. These designated segments of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System flow throughout the country and help protect some of the nation’s free flowing rivers, providing opportunities and access for recreation, protecting drinking water and helping fuel local economies.”
